Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Offiziell angekündigt

Valve hat Counter-Strike: Global Offensive offiziell angekündigt. Der Multi-Plattform-Shooter soll im ersten Quartal 2012 für PC, Mac, Xbox 360 und PlayStation 3 erscheinen. Global Offensive wird Neue Karten, Charaktere und Waffen bieten aber auch klassische, neu aufbereitete Inhalte wie die Karte »de_dust« beinhalten. Neue Spielmodi, ein Matchmaking-System und Online-Ranglisten sind ebenfalls mit an Bord.

Den Team-basierten Shooter wird es auf der diesjährigen gamescom allerdings nicht zu sehen geben. Auf der PAX Prime-Messe, die vom 26. – 28. August in Seattle stattfindet, soll der Titel laut Valve aber schon spielbar sein.

Ursprüngliche Meldung: Auf der offiziellen Website der ESEA, Nordamerikas größter Spiele-Community sind erste Informationen zu einem neuen Counter-Strike-Titel aufgetaucht. Laut einem Beitrag im ESEA-Forum war das Community-Mitglied Craig »Torbull« Levine bei Entwickler Valve zu Gast und durfte das neue Counter-Strike: Global Offensiveselbst anspielen. Als Beweis postete er ein Bild von sich im Valve-Hauptquartier bei Facebook.

Der ESL Pro Manager, Bastian Vieser berichtet bei Twitter von einer ähnlichen Geschichte. »Ich habe den ganzen Tag lang das neue Counter-Strike: Global Offensive im Valve-Hauptquartier gespielt! Oh Gott, ich liebe meinen Job.. und ja, es ist echt gut!« Im offiziellen Valve Forum berichtet ein User über Counter Strike: Global »Operation«, der Valve-Mitarbeiter Jess Cliffe berichtigte den Namen sogar umgehend zu »Counter Strike: Global Offensive.«

Der User »Wizard« fasste die Gerüchte um das Spiel auf der Website eseanews.com zusammen. Demnach soll Counter-Strike: Global Offensive im ersten Quartal 2012 erscheinen und sich auf 5 vs. 5 Mehrspieler-Gefechte konzentrieren. Als Grafik-Motor soll eine überarbeitete Version der hauseigenen Source-Engine zum Einsatz kommen. Global Offensive soll individuelle und Team-Ranglisten bieten, neue Waffen und Granaten hinzufügen und die aus Counter-Strike: Source bekannten Maps »Dust« und »Aztec« beinhalten.

Eine offizielle Ankündigung des Shooters gibt es noch nicht, laut »Wizard« wird der Entwickler Valve Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in Kürze mit einer Pressemitteilung offiziell ankündigen.

Steam - Neues System soll Download-Geschwindigkeit erhöhen

Entwickler von Valve arbeiten an einem neuen Content-Delivery-System für die Online-Distributionsplattform Steam. Dies kündigte das Unternehmen im Zuge einer offiziellen Pressemitteilung an. Demnach sei man schon jetzt dabei, das neue System in Steam zu integrieren, was für den Nutzer und auch für Entwicklerfirmen einige Vorteile bringen soll.

Laut Valve soll sich in erster Linie die Download-Geschwindigkeit erhöhen, da die neuen Server in Verbindung mit dem neuen System deutlich leistungsfähiger sein sollen als es bisher der Fall war. In der Praxis sollen Kunden besonders zum Release eines heiß erwarteten Titel profitieren. Bisher mussten sich die Server häufig den vielen Zugriffen und Download-Anfragen geschlagen geben. Diese Situation soll durch das neue System verbessert werden. Dabei bestätigte Valve, dass der Release von DOTA 2 über das neue System laufen wird.

Das neue Content-Delivery-System erlaubt auch neue Features für Spieler: Patches können auch dann runtergeladen werden, wenn das betreffende Spiel gerade läuft. Außerdem soll man den Download der Updates besser regulieren können: Der Nutzer wird festlegen können, wann welcher Patch mit welcher Maximalgeschwindigkeit heruntergeladen werden soll. Ebenfalls neu: Eine Prioritätenliste, durch die man Steam anweisen kann bestimmte Spiele anderen Titeln zu bevorzugen.

Patches insgesamt sollen kleiner werden. Bisher musste bei einem Patch jede geänderte Datei neu heruntergeladen werden. Sobald Steam komplett auf das neue System umgestellt ist, wird nur noch die Änderung einer Datei heruntergeladen, die Datei an sich muss nicht nochmal komplett abgerufen werden. Hinzu kommt, dass Steam für Entwicklerfirmen neue Tools anbietet, die das Patchen eines Spiels vereinfachen sollen.

Wann das neue Content-Delivery-System im gesamten Bereich von Steam Einzug findet, ist noch nicht bekannt, der Trailer-Bereich soll aber schon jetzt darüber laufen.

League of Legends: Riot games says Soft ELO Reset

Our beloved developers over at Riot Games have finally announced some more information regarding the ELO Reset, an answer the entire community has been waiting on for several weeks. After the Season One Finals were announced, everyone started wondering what would happen to the ELO after this first season.

On their forums, RiotMarcou (Riot's eSports Manager), explained what will happen:

RiotMarcou: With Fnatic bringing home the gold in our Season One Championship at DreamHack, the Season One Circuit has officially come to a close. Following this historic occasion, we will no longer issuing Season One Circuit points for sanctioned tournaments. If you would like to have a look at the final standings, you may do so by visiting our Season One Circuit forums .

If you’re still interested in capturing a little bit of glory from our first competitive season, however, the ladder season is being extended. We will announce the completion date for ladder competition in the coming weeks, along with the details on rewards on the ranked ladders for our platinum, gold, silver, and bronze placement winners. Once ladder competition has been resolved, we will officially end Season One.

In addition to these great rewards for our competitive ladder champions, upon the completion of the season we will be giving everyone who participated something special. So we have decided to issue each and every summoner that played at least 10 games over the course of Season One in any game mode a special, commemorative skin for Kayle, the Judicator, to thank for helping to make the our first competitive season such a smashing success.

Also stay tuned for further information on the competitive ladder as Season Two draws closer! We will be performing a partial ladder reset to mark the beginning of Season Two. Rather than a full reset, players will have their Elo rating reset to certain milestone values based upon their finish at the closing of Season One. More details will be coming as we draw closer to the event.

We hope that you enjoyed participating in League of Legends Season One as much as we did, and we look forward to seeing everyone make one final push for a strong finish in the ladder standings.

- Everyone who has played at least 10 games during S1 will receive Kayle's Judicator skin

New LoL International Team joined us!

At 06-07-2011 a new team has joined H2O-Gaming, the International League of Legends squad.


A short introduction:
My name is Netherlands adzer and I am the team captain of the H2O League of Legends squad. I founded this team around three months ago with my teammate Amoncaco. We are both from the Netherlands, but we decided to form an International team. To find the perfect players for our team we searched on some forums, and eventually we found our AD Carry player Legnatius and our Off tank Markonyy20. One month ago our support player Albania Lally joined the team. The last weeks we practised a lot and we feel ready for various league's like ESL right now. In the future we would like to attend as many lans as we can and it would be great to go on bootcamp with the team soon.

H2O Gaming
unfortunately, our first multigaming clan was not active enough so we decided to leave them and search for another multigaming clan. We contacted H2O Gaming and told them about our team and the plans we have. After a short talk we came to a good conclusion for both sides, and we hope to perform well for this multigaming organisation.
